Building the future of Changing Stories

Wanted: 50 supporters for plan 5+

Theatre projects are the heart of our cause. As long as children and minors are fleeing, we will do our best to reach them through art and imagination. We’ve been doing this since 2016!

And in doing so Changing Stories has amassed a wealth of expertise over the years. We aim to preserve this unique knowledge and pass it on to the next generation of artists and theatre makers.

To maintain and pass on our expertise, we have a plan for the next five years. Our goal is to establish a strong foundation for both short and long term endeavours. In addition to executing our theatre projects, we aim to achieve two major impact ambitions:

  • Deepening and expanding our methodology.
  • Developing training and educational programmes for social-artistic education.

This growth will enable us to expand as an organisation and increase the impact of our theatre projects.

how it works

Join as a Supporter and send us a message by 1st October 2024. Once we’re sure we have enough supporters, we can start implementing Plan 5+.

Become a supporter for plan 5+

We want to be a lasting source of inspiration for anyone who wants to use the power of theatre for positive change. It’s an exciting path we’re taking. We aim to strengthen the core of our organisation and prepare for the future. With more certainty and financial stability, we can continue to assist displaced children and young people by training new artists in trauma and culturally sensitive work.

We don’t have extra money to grow. All gifts and donations to Changing Stories go towards implementing theatre projects.

That’s why we’re seeking supporters who are willing to support Changing Stories for an extended period. If you commit your donation to Changing Stories for a minimum of five years as a periodic gift, you can deduct it from your taxes. You’ll then receive a portion of the donated amount back from the tax authorities. With this, we can give Plan 5+ shape and provide Changing Stories with a solid foundation for the future.

Give more for the same amount

A periodic donation allows you to deduct a significant portion from your taxes, and it ensures our continued support.

How does it work?

  1. Calculate Your Tax Benefit

The size of your tax benefit depends on your income and age. Easily calculate your tax benefit with the ANBIgift calculation tool (in Dutch).

  1. Formalise Your Donation

The Tax Authority requires that a fixed amount per calendar year be committed for a period of at least five years in an agreement for tax-free donations. This can be done with a periodic donation agreement between you and Changing Stories.

Print the donation agreement, fill in your details, and sign it. Send the document to us, we will complete it and send it back to you.

  1. Ready for Your Tax Return

The agreement we send back to you will have two numbers you’ll need for your tax return:

  • the fiscal number (or RSIN) of Changing Stories: 860523007
  • and a personal transaction number.

Keep the agreement safe. With it, you can prove to the Tax Authority that you can deduct this donation from your income tax. We will also keep a copy of the agreement.

important information for tax returns

  • Fiscal name: Changing Stories Foundation
  • Location: Arnhem
  • Transaction number: your personal number can be found on the donation agreement.

Frequently asked questions

Donating with tax benefits, also known as periodic donating, involves committing your donation in an agreement and donating a fixed amount annually to Changing Stories for at least 5 years. This way, you can get a portion of your donation back from the Tax Authority.

The difference between a regular donation and a periodic donation is well explained on the Tax Authority’s website (Belastingdienst.nl)

You must commit for a minimum of 5 years. Shorter commitments are not allowed. Longer commitments are.

If you have an agreement for an indefinite period and want to terminate it after 5 years, you can easily do so by sending an email to finance@changingstoriesfoundation.org.

Generally, no. If you terminate the agreement prematurely, you must report this to the Tax Authority. They will determine the consequences for the tax deduction of your donation. The agreement may end earlier if:

  • you or your partner pass away;
  • you lose your job;
  • you become disabled;
  • Changing Stories loses its ANBI status.

For a periodic donation agreement, it is legally required (art. 88 of book 1 of the Civil Code) that the spouse or registered partner also signs the agreement.

You can terminate the agreement in writing. Note: if you stop giving within 5 years (without valid reason), you lose the right to deduct the donation from taxes. This applies to previous years where you donated as well.

With a periodic donation agreement, you can get back up to 37.05% of the annual amount. This percentage depends on your income and age. Use the calculation tool mentioned above to quickly determine your tax benefit.

You will receive a notification from the tax authorities before 1st July if you file your tax return in March.
